Introduction
Good morning, brothers! It’s time to rise and grind. Grab your coffee, settle in, and let’s dive into the Word together. Today, I want to talk to you about something that’s been heavy on my heart, something that’s crucial for every man striving to walk in the ways of the Lord—learning to say, “Teach me Your ways, Lord.”
The Journey of Learning God’s Ways
As men, we’re often taught to be strong, independent, and to figure things out on our own. But let me tell you something that I’ve learned over the years: there’s no greater strength than leaning on God and allowing Him to guide you. Psalm 27:11 says, “Teach me Your way, Lord; lead me on a level path because of my enemies.” This scripture has been a guiding light in my life, especially during times of confusion and adversity.
When I was a young preacher, I had a deep yearning for God to teach me His ways. I wasn’t just asking for guidance in ministry, but in every aspect of my life—how to be a good husband, a friend, a leader. This is essential for every man reading this today: you must have a personal relationship with God. Not just going to church, not just doing good deeds, but truly knowing God and spending time in His presence.
Quiet the Noise
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get distracted. Work, family, responsibilities, and even our own thoughts can become noise that drowns out the voice of God. But if you truly want to learn His ways, you’ve got to quiet the noise. This might mean shutting off your phone, stepping away from social media, or even setting boundaries with people who pull you away from your spiritual goals.
Brothers, I can’t stress this enough: you need to carve out time every day to be with God. This isn’t just a suggestion; it’s a necessity. The Bible says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6). That means every decision, every challenge, every triumph—acknowledge God, and He will show you the way.
All Is Well
Recently, I was in a car accident. It was one of those moments that could have shaken me to my core, but because I’ve been spending time with God, I could say with confidence, “All is well.” Even in the midst of chaos, God reassured me that He was in control. This is what happens when you allow God to teach you His ways—you learn to trust Him, even when things don’t make sense.
Someone might say, “But Pastor Monts, you were spending time with God, and you still got into an accident. What kind of God allows that?” To that, I say this: Spending time with God doesn’t mean you’ll avoid every hardship. It means that when hardship comes, you’ll be equipped to handle it. You’ll have peace that surpasses understanding, and you’ll know that no matter what, God’s got you.
A Call to Action
So today, I challenge you: quiet the noise in your life. Whatever it is that’s keeping you from hearing God—whether it’s distractions, bad habits, or even your own doubts—lay it down. Get in God’s presence and say, “Teach me Your way, Lord.” Allow Him to guide you, to shape you, and to lead you on a path that is well-lit by His wisdom.
Conclusion
Brothers, we are in this together. As we continue through Psalm 27, I pray that you would seek God’s ways above all else. Let’s not just be men who know about God—let’s be men who truly know God, who walk with Him daily, and who allow Him to lead us on the path of righteousness.
Stay encouraged, stay strong, and most importantly, stay in His presence. Until next time, remember: God is trying to tell you something. Are you listening?
